eduroam on Windows 11

Supported versions

For security reasons, we only support operating systems that still receive security updates from the vendor (no "End of Life", see endoflife.date). This guide applies to Windows 11.

Windows 10 is not supported, as Microsoft no longer provides security updates for it (End of Life since October 2025).

What you need

Your FH user ID in the format: username@fh-muenster.de
Your FH password
A PC or laptop with Windows 11 and Wi-Fi capability

Step 1: Download the eduroam installer

Open your browser and go to cat.eduroam.org.
Alternatively, you can download the ready-made installer directly from our website.
Click the button "Click here to download your eduroam installer".
Find FH Münster in the list and select it.
Click Windows 11 to download the installation file (.exe).

Step 2: Run the installer & enter your credentials

Double-click the downloaded file to run it.
Click Next in the installation wizard.
Enter your FH credentials:
- User ID: username@fh-muenster.de
- Password: your FH password
Click Install and close the wizard with Finish.

Step 3: Connect to the Wi-Fi network

Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar at the bottom right.
Select eduroam from the network list and click Connect.
The connection is established automatically using the stored credentials.

Common issues & solutions

Windows asks for a "Security key" instead of a user ID and password

This happens if eduroam was configured manually instead of using the installer.

Solution: Remove the network entry (Wi-Fi icon → eduroam → Don't save) and then run the installer from Step 1 again. It configures certificates and EAP settings fully automatically.

No connection after a password change

Open Settings (Win + I) → Network & internet → Wi-Fi.
Click Manage known networks.
Select eduroam and click Forget.
Run the installer from Step 1 again.

Done!

The setup of eduroam on Windows 11 is complete.
